Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the most streamed song within six months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton did not just bring interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest towards Latin music more generally. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish and 2016 saw four. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 tracks primarily in Spanish made it to at the very top of 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked with Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of the genre towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. He incorporated electronic dance styles and other genres into his songs.
