Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarship and volunteerism in the community. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for the entire nation. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in the college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was an all-pro three times before beginning an entrepreneurial career. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. When he was playing for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
